Antique Faïence Anglaise Première Qualité DINNER PLATE Chinese Pattern 16210 9.25"
An antique plate approximately 9.25in in diameter in the Chinese Pattern 16210 which was made by many English potteries in the mid-to-late 1800s. This item is probably made by Ashworth & Bros, from Hanley, England.
Oriental theme showing two people in a garden and a third figure inside the house, all wearing traditional dress. A floral motif around the border of the plate. Early transferware with hand-applied colours
The mark at the back says "Faïence Anglaise Première Qualité" or "English pottery of the first quality".
The plate is in good antique condition - no cracks and no major chips. The rim feels rough in places all around the edge, where, I believe, some kind of gilded detail was mostly lost and at least 2 small chips can be felt. The whole piece is covered in fine crazing and the underside shows some age stains. Please inspect pictures.
