Vintage 8 Piece BALMORAL CHINA Original Art Deco 1930s PLATE SET

A vintage eight-piece matching plate set made in an art deco style. Made in Staffordshire, England by British manufacturers Balmoral China, specifically by Redfern & Drakeford Ltd at their Balmoral Works, sometime between 1902 and 1933. http://www.thepotteries.org/allpotters/848.htm

This original set of 6 cake/dessert plates, cake serving plate and bowl has a delicate transfer design embellished with hand applied splashes of green and red paint to highlight its floral motifs.

No chips, cracks or crazing. The hand applied gilding in faded in many places and it is possible to spot where there were imperfections in the manual process to apply the transfers.

This is the real 1930's deal, as this factory closed down in 1933. It may even be an earlier piece.

Set consists of:

1 x square cake serving plate - 9.75" x just over 8.5"

1 x bowl - 4.75" in diameter and just over 2.5" tall

6 x tea/dessert/cake plates 6" x 6"

This also came with 4 tea cups that sadly have no saucers. You can have these 4 cups as well for the same price, just contact me. They are in relatively good condition but one of the cups has a stain on the bottom.
