A decorative collectors plate plate made in 2008 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson (1st Viscount Nelson), which took place on the 29th of September 1758. Entitled 'A Great British Hero', the plate reads 'Something must be left to chance; nothing is sure in a sea fight' and depicts a dramatic wartime naval battle scene showing HMS Victory firing its cannons amidst smoke and splintering waves during the Battle of Trafalgar.

Made in Staffordshire, England by British manufacturers Danbury Mint in partnership with the National Maritime Museum. Serial number 0805. Made of fine porcelain and rimmed with precious 22 carat gold.

Comes boxed and with the certificate of authenticity.
